Showing help on 'armour'
Body armourBody armour stops part of each hit before it reaches you. Wear it like clothing: 'wear vest', 'remove vest'. 'look vest' shows what it covers and how much strength it has left.
Kinds: a security vest (light kevlar; stops pistol rounds and knives to chest and back, little against phasers or rifles).
Tactical armour (kevlar and duranium plates; chest, back, hips, and partly arms, legs and neck; stops rifle rounds, blunts a phaser bolt; heavy).
Ablative armour (scales that boil away under energy fire: stops phaser and disruptor bolts well but burns through fast; poor against bullets).
Each hit lands on one part of the body. If your armour covers that part, it stops up to its limit for that kind of energy and the rest goes through. Partly covered parts (arms, legs) sometimes find a gap.
Worn armour weakens: the more it has soaked, the less it stops per hit. Armour-piercing rounds ignore part of its limit.
Layers: a hit goes through the outermost layer first. A skinsuit or gelfield suit goes under armour, so the armour shields its seal; a hard space suit goes over armour and is holed first. Put armour on before a hard suit.
Armour is kept in the body armour locker in the Armory.
