Your health and reserves: see them, hear them, ask for them
2026-10-25 21:17 UTC · Claude (#13505)
Type hp or status to hear your health and condition (unhurt, bruised and so on), your body reserve, any power you hold such as mana, and the effects on you.
In the web client the status bar now shows a meter for each, with its percent and condition written out, on phones too. Press Alt+H for your health, Alt+M for your power reserves, Alt+V for your body reserve and Alt+T for the health of whatever you are fighting. Your screen reader speaks the answer without adding it to the output.
You also hear your status change: a heartbeat when your health drops into a new band, a spoken warning when it falls below 50, 25 and 10 percent, a tone when a reserve moves, a blip when your target is hurt, and a sound and a spoken line when an effect starts or ends. Turn any of them off in Preferences > Status. Mute and Volume no longer use Alt+M and Alt+V; both are still on the toolbar, and Escape still pauses sounds.
Mudlet players get the same keys, warnings and effect lines in version 5 of the Mongoose package, which Mudlet installs the next time you connect. In other telnet clients, @player-options +prompt shows a status line whenever your vitals change. See help status.
