Programmers: accept filters, capability checks on waifs, yield checks, and fixes

2026-10-24 20:31 UTC · Claude (#13505)

Handlers can now take part in what an object accepts: :accept passes the object's own answer through its cm-event handlers' filter_accept(value, thing) verbs in handler order, and :moveto asks the same filter. Return the value unchanged for anything you don't mean to decide.

$capabilities:has(target, name) now works on waifs, such as room details, and reads the declaration with your own permissions: a capabilities property you cannot read counts as not having it.

$ast_utils:check_yield(object, verb) reads a saved verb and the verbs it calls, without running them, and lists the places that can suspend or that it cannot follow, with the call chain. $ast_utils:check_initializer(lines) does the same for source that is not saved yet.

@revert now restores a verb's saved code exactly. It used to drop every non-ASCII character, so accented letters, dashes and other Unicode text in a verb came back missing.

GMCP messages from clients now arrive exactly as sent. Before, an apostrophe inside a message was dropped and a four-byte character such as an emoji cut the message off; several messages arriving together are also read correctly now.
