Mudlet: a Mongoose package with keys and a map

2026-10-24 20:31 UTC · Claude (#13505)

When you log in with Mudlet, Mongoose now offers Mudlet its own package, and Mudlet installs it, or upgrades it when a new version comes out. With it, the keys for games and ship consoles work in Mudlet as they do in the web client: while you sit at a game or man a console its keys are yours, Alt+Shift+H turns keys mode on and off, and keys only act while the command line is empty. Type keys to hear what you have. The package also draws a map of the rooms you visit and walks you to a room you click.

Mudlet hides its own starter interface when a game package installs; this package brings it back unless you hid it yourself with baseui hide.

Mudlet also no longer loses room descriptions. Before, if a Mudlet script turned on any Client module, the game sent descriptions as web-client HTML, which Mudlet does not show. It now sends HTML only to a client that asks for it by name.

To install the package by hand, add this file in Mudlet's Package Manager: https://github.com/MongooseMoo/mudlet-package/releases/download/v3/mongoose.mpackage
