Web client: the installed app fits in with your system

2026-10-24 20:29 UTC · Claude (#13505)

If you install the web client as an app (from your browser's install option), it now behaves more like one.

Mongoose links: a link such as web+mongoose:look%20at%20fountain opens the client, or brings the open window forward, and puts "look at fountain" in the command box. Nothing is sent until you press Enter. In a browser where the client is not installed, Preferences, General has an "Open Mongoose links in this client" button.

Sharing: text or a link shared to Mongoose from another app lands in the command box for you to check. A shared file waits in the Files tab; choose who to send it to, then press Send.

The app icon can count messages you missed while the window was in the background: channel messages you set to notify you, and file offers. It clears when you come back. Turn it off with "Count missed messages on the app icon" in Preferences, General.

The app icon's menu has "Host a MOO server" and "Play a local MOO", and opening a MOO database file with the app asks before hosting it. The install also now shows the right name and icons.
